About New Zealand Diploma In Engineering (civil) in Waikato Institute of Technology (Wintec)

Summary

Students will learn the core knowledge and practical skills required to meet industry needs in their chosen strand of engineering.

This two year programme will provide students with th​e practical skills and knowledge for working on the design, construction and maintenance of civil engineering infrastructure, from roads and bridges, to harbours, water and wastewater facilities.

What you'll learn

There are 12 compulsory modules that students must complete over the two year programme. 

Additionally, there are a number of elective modules that students can choose to study. Students will be able to discuss this choice with the Programme Manager as these will depend on the pathway that is chosen.

Career/further opportunities

Graduates may be employed as engineering technicians in workplaces that have a technical/engineering basis relevant to civil engineering. Roles may include working on roads, buildings and utilities.

Academic qualification equivalents

  • Achieved an overall average of 65% in the Higher Secondary School Examination or All‐India Senior School Certificate with a minimum of 60% in English;

English language requirements (one of the below):

  • IELTS           :        Academic score of 6 with no band score lower than 5.5           
  • TOEFL         :        Score of 60 (with a writing score of 18)    
  • PTE              :        score of 50 with no band score lower than 42
